Meet Elise Rocks! She is a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser with JC Morgan Company in Wrightsville Beach, which she joined in 2012. Elise enjoys working in an environment that encourages professional growth and expects and nurtures excellence while respecting individual aspirations outside the office. When she decided on a career change in 1999, she started in an administrative position and worked her way up. Elise is fortunate to have a broad range of development experience that gives her a practical perspective as a commercial real estate appraiser. She loves working at her Lumina Station location with access to shopping and restaurants and is also near her home in Seagate. Elise used to cook professionally and manage restaurants. She recently dazzled our members with her chef skills at the CREW New Member Dinner and the CREW Foundation Fundraiser.

Lumina Station is also near Craft Hardware where she met and fell in love with her fiancé, Eric Korman. It was in the aisles of Craft Hardware where he helped her with many projects over the years! Elise and Eric enjoy spending weekends on their houseboat, getting away to the farm, entertaining friends and family, camping, kayaking, live music and dancing. They are getting married in October.

Elise has a grown son, Kelsey Rocks Allen, who lives in Brooklyn, New York, as a freelance photographer and videographer working on shows such as HGTV’s Tiny House and Living Alaska. He and his amor, Gigi, are expecting a child in January. It will be a big year for Elise – wedding and grandbaby!

Elise knew she was home when she first crossed the Cape Fear River into historic downtown Wilmington in 1988. Her love of the Wilmington community has inspired her commitment to protect and enhance our natural and cultural environment. She gives graciously of her time, and has served as President of Cape Fear River Watch, Planning Chair of the Wilmington Downtown Inc., and President of Tidal Creek Cooperative Market. As a founding member of the Cape Fear Green Building Alliance in 2005, Elise has a long standing commitment to sustainable development, balanced with an appreciation for the economic bottom line. Elise has served as President of the Realtors Commercial Alliance of SENC, Board of Directors of Wilmington Downtown Inc., Senior Warden at Church of the Good Shepherd and President of Cape Fear River Watch. Elise is devoted to her Episcopal family at Church of the Good Shepherd, where she’s been a member for 27 years.

Elise has been recognized for many of her commitments. As Project Manager for Preservation Park, she received the Lower Cape Fear Stewardship Development Award, the City of Wilmington Tree Preservation Award, and was featured in Southern Living Magazine. In 2012, Elise received the YWCA Woman of Achievement Environmental Award.

Fortunately, Elise also has time for Cape Fear CREW. She recognizes the great joy that comes from women in each other’s lives. As part of a professional sisterhood, Elise is becoming a more confident, prominent and valuable member of the commercial real estate community.
