Meet Colleen, Our November Member In The Spotlight!

IMG_9404-120x180Colleen Rozier became a member of CREW when she moved to Wilmington in 2010. She owns a local business by the name of WIRE Development Services, LLC and, in her free time, enjoys traveling, snowboarding, hiking, running and doing just about anything with her 8-year-old son, Peyton. In addition, Colleen served on the Board of the Historic Wilmington Foundation for five years and she participates almost every year in the BIKE MS ride in New Bern, North Carolina, which raises money to support Multiple Sclerosis research and treatment.

Colleen grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania and attended The Pennsylvania State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geography and a Minor in Math. After college, she moved to Colorado in 2010 and remained there for ten years before relocating to Wilmington. Colleen loved living in the mountains and still loves to visit; she is an avid hiker and has hiked around twenty of the fifty-eight mountains that are at least 14,000 feet above sea level (often called the “14ers”). She feels like she has adapted to the coastal lifestyle over the past seven years, though, spending a lot of her free time “at the beach, on the boat or just outside enjoying the sunshine.”

Colleen is also very enthusiastic about her work; in her words: “I love my career!” She has been involved in real estate development for about fifteen years, beginning with a job in the GIS field after college. As she always had a passion for planning, development and finance, after a few years Colleen decided to enroll in a graduate program at the University of Colorado at Boulder in Colorado, where she received a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration on Real Estate and Finance. Colleen worked for several years as a Development Director for a homebuilder in Denver, Colorado, and then spent seven years working as Director of Asset Management for Cape Fear Commercial in Wilmington.

After losing her husband to cancer 1 ½ years ago, she “took a little break to regroup and put together a plan to do what [she] always wanted – start [her] own company!” In January of 2017, she started WIRE Development Services, LLC, with the word “WIRE” standing for Women In Real Estate! Through her company, she provides consulting services to developers and land owners in the areas of land acquisition, project planning, project management, due diligence and feasibility analysis. She loves working with her clients to bring their vision to reality. Currently, for example, she is working to help an up-and-coming local builder expand into new communities and acquire land to develop its own community.

Colleen has gotten a lot out of her CREW membership over the past seven years. Serving as a board member, past Secretary and past President during that time, she has had the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of CREW and has enjoyed seeing our chapter grow to a group with over forty quality women in our field. As Colleen states, “the professional support is wonderful but the personal support is AMAZING! I am so proud to be a part of this group and watch my fellow women SUCCEED!”
